How come teen car insurance in Houston Texas costs so much?

Mary

Glad you asked.

The month after I added my teenager to my car insurance policy, and I received the new quote, I nearly passed out. Teen car insurance in Houston Texas is expensive. I could seriously send him to college for this amount, I’m thinking.

Why is it so expensive? According to what they tell me, car accidents are the #1 cause of death among teenagers–which is pretty scary. Teens are overrepresented in serious car accidents, especially ones which cause death or serious injury. On top of that, they just don’t have the experience to do well what those of us who can put on make up and change the radio station and talk on the cell phone while eating a breakfast burrito while navigating I-10 (you shouldn’t do that either, actually) can do.

The way that I was able to get rid of a lot of this excess expense for my teen car insurance in HoustonĀ  was by cracking the whip and just making sure that my son got good grades in school. The company I have, and most others, have a student discount which is for those who get As or Bs in school. And it’s 20% off!

One of the easiest ways to reduce your annual premiums is to raise your deductible amount to the highest level you can, maybe $1,000. If you are a claim free safe driver then you will save a great deal of cash in the long run. You only pay this amount when you have a claim and your carrier pays that claim.
